Round 3 Results and Social News                                                                                                        27/10/08

While unfortunately the firsts had a tough time of it this weekend, the seconds, thirds and fourths all had good wins. This leaves the firsts a couple of games back with a bit of work to do in order to climb back up. Sprouta continued his great start to the year with 85.

In the seconds Dave Glover and John Salter (Snr) led the way with the bat making 97 and 80 respectively and Timmy Emmett taking 4/63 with the ball. After a couple of tougher years the seconds look like clicking this year after a couple of really good wins.

The thirds had to fight off a late charge from Mount Waverley. After leaving them needing 230 or so after tea Mount Waverley went on the attack and nearly pinched the win, bowled out in the last over still requiring another 20 runs. Phil Jackson was the star with the ball taking 5/92 while with the bat Mitch Brereton showed his massive potential making a very impressive 90.

The Fourths came very close to an outright win in an extremly dominant display. Bowling Mount Waverley out for 154 in the first innings we then went on to post 1/259 with Grant Redwood scoring 108 and Craig Bridle an unbeaten 77. In Mount Waverley's second innings we came so close. The days play finished with them hanging on at 8/68.

In social news we are Hoping to oragnise a day at the clubrooms for cup day, (obviously depending on the avalibility of the rooms). Our idea is that it would be a family day, encouraging all players/members to bring along there wives/partners, kids, friends etc.

We are planning to have the bar open, a spit roast lunch (if that can be organised, if not a BBQ). Some raffles, race sweeps and a few other activities.

Round 1 Results

Weve had some mixed results for round 1, while the 2nds and 3rds had good wins, the 1sts and 4ths will be looking to rebound next week after close loses. While 4 wins would have been ideal all teams showed some fight and displayed that with some application at training and on match days we should be fighting it out for finals action and more.

In other news the sidebar on the right has been updated with some new links. The results on the new "mycricket" system can be found there, the fixtures are easily accessible as well as something we are going to trial, BCC Forums.

The forums are designed to promote more interaction between players and supporters outside of the club. Please make an effort to get on and register yourself and make a post or two. We are looking for people that might want to take a active role in the administration of the forums, anyone interested please contact Warwick via email at warwick.kane@alphawest.com.au
